APC Chieftain Slams Governor Adeleke Over Insecurity, Failed Governance

Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osun State, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as Banik, has raised alarm over worsening insecurity and alleged governance failures under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Prince Adeleke made these known during a media parley organized by the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

He expressed concern over the state’s deteriorating security, citing multiple crisis zones where government intervention has been either delayed or absent.

According to him “In Ebedi, hoodlums were seen openly wielding AK-47 rifles. In Esa Oke, police officers were reportedly killed in a communal clash involving a non-indigene king,” he stated.

He further mentioned Ifon-Erin-Osun, which he said has suffered eight communal clashes under Governor Adeleke’s watch, and Ido-Osun, where the controversial relocation of an airport project to Ede the governor’s hometown sparked outrage over lack of consultation and alleged partisanship.

“Governor Adeleke refused to sit with the kings. That’s a failure in governance capacity. How can you be a governor and not meet your traditional rulers in a time of crisis?” he queried.

The APC chieftain also dismissed the current administration’s road infrastructure efforts as mere propaganda. “You are doing big roads to deceive Osun people.We did roads under Oyetola without any fanfare. Now they’re bringing in ex-leaders like Babangida to commission uncompleted projects,” he remarked.

“It is a rape on Islam. A governor who claims to be a Muslim doesn’t know that his forehead must touch the ground when he prays? This is a big disgrace. We’ve seen his dancing in celestial churches. The Muslim community sees and notes everything,” he said.

He alleged that Governor Adeleke only portrayed himself as a Muslim during the election season to avoid criticism over a “Christian-Christian ticket,” and has since failed to uphold the tenets of the faith.

Amid the criticisms, Adeleke also charged journalists to remain objective in their reporting and resist intimidation.

“If any harm comes to Osun journalists, Adeleke will be held accountable. You’re simply reporting statements from political parties, not expressing your own opinions, and shouldn’t face attacks for doing your job.
