Five Trapped As Abandoned Building Collapses In Osogbo

Residents of the Sabo area in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, were gripped with fear on Sunday, July 14, when an abandoned building, allegedly used by hoodlums, collapsed.
The incident occurred around 7:30 am, trapping five people inside.
The uncompleted,abandoned storey building had reportedly been used by hoodlums before its collapse.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident.
In a statement,Adeleke revealed that”Two people have been rescued so far while the remaining three are entrapped under the decking that requires the use of a crane.
“While we await the crane, people are doing all they can within their physical human capacity to break the decking and connected rods,” Adeleke said.
“Local authorities,including the LGA chairman, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), NSCDC, the Commissioner of Police, the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), and other government agents, are on the scene coordinating rescue efforts”, he added.
