Cleric Calls On Govt To Declare Public Holiday For Pentecost Day

Founding Bishop Of Victory Life Ministries International, Bishop Mike Bamidele has called on the Osun State government to officially recognize Pentecost Day as a public holiday in Nigeria.

Bishop Bamidele made the call during the Pentecost Day celebration on Monday in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

The religious leader expressed worry over the government’s slow recognition of Pentecost Day, revealing that he has been advocating for this for over a decade.

He emphasized that the call for official recognition of Pentecost Day as a public holiday is not just about honoring a religious event but about fostering a sense of equity and respect for all faiths in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the former governor of Osun State acknowledged Isese and Hijirah Day, in his administration and Christians were overlooked which can disrupt peace in the state.

Highlighting the need for sincere and inclusive policy-making that addresses the suffering of the populace.

According to him, Ask the holy spirit for direction, ask experts in every field for direction, we need to be sincere in our policy making that will be conscious of the suffering of people.

“No matter how good an intention a policy is if the outcome is making people cry those policies need instant review or there will be a crash of the entire system because when people get pushed to the wall there will be a reaction.

“We are very close to a people revolution if nothing is done about policies that make people suffer.

” God has given us grace we should not take the grace of God in vain, God has blessed Nigeria and we should not misuse the resources of Nigeria, as Christian also the saving power of God has washed away your sins, you should not go back to things worse than a sinner was doing. That is vandalizing grace, abusing grace, if you are doing unrighteous things and you say grace covers you that is grace abuse.

“The standard of a a believer’s life must be above that of an average person, we are the light of the world, the standard of measurement must be precise, and we must not be placed in a way where they don’t know where we belong, you are either right or wrong.

” This year’s celebration is burning down evil garments, every human being is wearing a cloth physical and spiritual, even if you are mad we will know that you are wearing a mentally deranged person’s garment so his naked but God wants to change everyone’s garment individually as a family or as a nation.

“The messages about change, God will change your present circumstances and present situation but in the power of the holy spirit, unless you have the power of the holy spirit the evil power will simply overwhelm you, and you will remain in the way you are always been worsen your condition than you had always had before now, it’s the holy spirit that brings improvement to life.

“The government is slow in recognizing Pentecost Day celebration, more than ten years ago I spoke to everybody who cared to listen including the state House of Assembly and all the governors who have heard in every home that this day should be recognized as a public holiday when you give God his blessing he will give you your place.

“One of the reasons why we are suffering now is that we have not yet given God its place in our affairs as a nation.

“Osun state under the then Governor gave Isese and Hijirah Day government recognition and ignored the Christians. That can disrupt peace, and equity in a polarized and multi-religious society like ours, whenever you want to do something you must be conscious of all other interests and balances.

“I felt that was slapping us in the face, the same way we have Muslim/Muslim tickets, the same way we have 90 billion sponsoring Pligrimates, the same way we have almost one week holiday to recognize an Islamic holiday during the same one year of this administration.

“We are in for something if we don’t wake up as Christians, we must speak, it is from the little things of life that you take action and take note.
