Five Home Appliances You Should Never Plug Into Extension Cord — Expert

Some home appliances are best plugged directly into a wall outlet that’s properly rated for their power requirements, and they should never be plugged into an extension cord.
According to an expert, we’ve been posing a risk to our homes by plugging in appliances that simply aren’t meant for extension cords.
To avoid any hazards or fire risks, here are some five home appliances you should not be plugging into your extension cord for a safer home environment.
Space Heaters:
Space heaters draw a lot of power and can easily overload extension cords, leading to overheating and potential fire hazards.
Microwaves:
Microwaves require a significant amount of electricity to operate properly. Plugging them into an extension cord can lead to voltage drop and may cause the microwave to malfunction or even start a fire.
Refrigerators:
Refrigerators need a consistent and reliable power supply to maintain proper temperature levels. Plugging them into extension cords increases the risk of voltage fluctuations, which can damage the compressor or other components.
Air Conditioners:
Similar to space heaters, air conditioners consume a large amount of electricity. Plugging them into extension cords can overload the circuit and create a fire hazard.
Washing Machines and Dryers:
These appliances draw a significant amount of power, especially during their startup cycles. Using extension cords can lead to voltage drops and electrical issues that may damage the appliances or pose safety risks.
